Botanical Rainbow

Writer's picture: Hayleigh - Lyra&AtlasHayleigh - Lyra&Atlas

Last year I released a collection called 'Botanical Rainbow', with pieces created using naturally dyed recycled cotton cord and fashioned into various rainbow pieces.

I've been sitting on how they were achieved for a year now, so I think it's about time to share what dye stuffs were used to create these beautiful colours.

All material was pre-treated with soya milk and damp when added to their dye pots.

Peach - Avoado

Yellow - Turmeric

Green - Spirulina

Blue - Elderberries & iron

Purple - Elderberries

Brown - Avocado & iron

Come back for more soon - including a more in depth look at the dying process, collecting dye stuffs, new colours & experiments and making homemade iron water.
